After getting some street driven KMs on REAP3R Brett was noticing the intake temperatures after wide open throttle pulls climbing to over 70 degrees, resulting in the Haltech Elite pulling boost and timing out in order to save him hurting the engine.
So it was at this point Brett decided to step things up and see how far the little Precision 6870 could go before it taps out. A water methanol system from Cool Runnings Engineering was fitted to solve the intake temperature issues and with the expectation of a power increase the factory 6 speed Getrag was swapped out for a Samsonas 6 speed sequential transmission with a PPG upgraded transfer case. The factory Active LSD was also removed in favour of an R32 GTR mechanical LSD which was rebuild and tightened up.
We also changed up the header tank system and fitted a Platinum Racing Products trigger kit.
Back on the dyno it went at DVS Tuning and the result was an impressive 950hp on 45psi of boost.
The Haltech Elite 2500 now controls the water/meth and flat shift ignition cut as well as the v-cam, boost control, flex fuel mapping, etc, etc. The car is a whole new beast with the sequential transmission making gear changes lightening fast and the water/ meth injection keeping intake temps in check so there is no loss of power when things get heated.
